Introducing the SHIFT838 Real Time Clock Module for use with Thierry Nouspikel's IDE Interface Card!
This module has been tested with the IDE card and replaces the aging BQ4847. The design of the BQ4847 had the entire circuit built into the chip. The Crystal and backup batteries were all inside the chip, therefore could not be changed if needed.
This chip is no longer active and is obsolete.
Needless to say, many TI'ers original BQ4847 clock chip batteries have died. This causes a problem to keep Date and Time, as well as the DSR to be loaded.
I have designed this module to be directly plugged into the current socket of the BQ4847 space via machined SIL sockets. This RTC circuitry is all independent and completely accessible to change the battery when it goes out with a standard CR2032 3v lithium coin cell.
The clock chip used is compatible with the BQ4847.
The module can be delivered as a DIY Kit or Assembled/Tested.
The clock chip and crystal used are SMD footprints. If you are going to assembled, please be aware of this and have the necessary skills to solder SMD devices.
The DIY Kit will contain:
1 x PCB board
1 x RTC Chip
1 x Crystal
Headers/socket for mounting
CR2032 Battery not included!
Preorder will be closed on June 25, 2020
Components will be ordered on June 26, 2020
