Product Description
SCART Genie 9640 Passive
This unit uses passive 1k trimmers to clean up RED, GREEN, BLUE, CSYNC and Audio signals before sending to the SCART connection.
Can output to SCART Audio or external PC speakers.
This unit will also provide the necessary voltage to enable RGB mode in the SCART monitor such as the Samsung SyncMaster 910MP or turn off this feature if your monitor already has the necessary modifications.
The easiest way to hook up your Geneve to a SCART enabled monitor without having to create a custom cable.
Below is required to be purchased from your own sourcing.
Geneve 9640 (
not included)
8 pin standard DIN male to male cable (recommend to purchase a high grade) (
not included)
SCART male to male cable (recommend to purchase a high grade) (
not included)
Lower grade cables can cause poor image quality.
This unit does require to adjust the RED, GREEN, BLUE, CSYNC and Audio trim pots to get a clear signal. This can take a few minutes but once it is set you can leave it.
This unit will be preset based on my Geneve before shipping. However it may require some tweaking with your specific unit.
Step 1: Set the DIP Switches#1 (ON) = Geneve Powered (provides 1.8v to the SCART to put monitor into RGB mode)
#2 (ON) = Use SCART audio via SCART cable
#3 (ON) - Use external PC speakers for Audio
Step 2: Adjust signals:Start with the CSYNC signal and turn it to the minimum and start moving up to the maximum setting until you can see images/text on your screen and the screen is stable and not jerky.
Do the same with RED, GREEN and BLUE signals.
FYI.. Mine are usually set close to max settings to achieve the correct CSYNC and colors.
When good move on to the Audio signal. When you think it's good, launch Advanced Basic and adjust the audio until the picture is as clear as it can be.
